Between October and December of 2022, southern California is expected to see warmer and dryer conditions than normal, said David Sweet, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service (NWS).  Over the last several years, the fall season has been the peak of fire season in Santa Clarita due to the Santa Ana winds fanning any fire that may ignite.  Santa Ana winds, which are also known as off-shore winds which blow from the northeast, normally start in early September and last through April and are typically contributors to the rapid spread of brush fires during the fall, said Matt Shameson, a meteorologist for the Geography Area Coordination Center in a previous KHTS article.
